Annapoorna Morning Nutrition in Sikkim – March 4th 2022
The beautiful north-eastern state of Sikkim is now home to Annapoorna Nutrition Programme. The inauguration of the programme took place on 04-Mar-2022. This program would help alleviate malnutrition in children & also aid in their cognitive development.
Honourable Education Minister of Sikkim – Sri K N Lepcha, Additional chief secretary – Sri G P Upadhyaya, Director of Mid-Day Meals programme – Sri Sonam Denzongpa, Joint director and Assistant Director of Mid-Day Meals programme – Sri Pema Bhutia Thinlay graced the occasion.
Mr. Santhosh Allath – National Manager & Mr. Vivek Kumar – Manager – Operations, CSR Partners & Government Alliances represented Annapoorna Trust.
The additional chief secretary, Mr. G. P. Upadhyaya, talked about the importance of various micro-nutrients for the growth of children and why there is an imperative need to address the issue of children not having breakfast before coming to school. He thanked Annapoorna Trust for starting the pilot project in the State of Sikkim.
The education minister, Mr. K. N. Lepcha, said that he was very happy such a program is being extended to the State of Sikkim and he promised that he will provide all needed assistance for the expansion of the program to more such children across the state.
At the end of the program, the director of Mid-day Meal program, Mr. Sonam Denzongpa, gave his heartfelt vote of thanks saying that he was happy to see the faces of the children after a long time since the schools were shut due to the pandemic. He thanked everybody for making the program successful and conveyed best wishes to Annapoorna Trust
