Our Mission

Gramodharana, Gramaparivartan (Rural Uplift, Rural Transformation)

To invest in the rural and the needy through “Anna” (nutrition), “Akshara” (education), and “Arogya” (health), leading to transformation of the children, parents, community and volunteers.

About Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust

Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust, a charitable trust headquartered in Muddenahalli, Chikkaballapur District of Karnataka, India, has been running one of India’s leading morning nutrition programmes for rural school children. It works at the grassroots level to address hidden hunger and ensure child nutrition security.

Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust, set up in November 2015, primarily strives to feed nutritious, well-balanced morning nutrition to all school-going children in rural India and disadvantaged sections of society. It also seeks to enable holistic development of children by actively engaging with school authorities and helping them integrate an ethos of academic as well as human excellence. Annapoorna’s coverage of beneficiaries has been growing exponentially over the years.

Today, Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust serves nutrition to over 1,00,00,000 school children every morning across 25 states and 4 Union Territories across India. These children attend government schools, located typically in rural hinterland. The morning nutrition is in the form of “SaiSure” nutrition supplement added to the milk, presented to the child every morning, after school prayer at the school premises.

This simple yet powerful Annapoorna Breakfast Program has catalyzed improvements in enrollment, punctuality, mental focus, academic performance, and health of the child—besides motivating teachers who previously taught children coming to school on empty stomachs.

Along the way, Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust has been fortunate to be supported by like-minded individuals and institutions, including over 600 volunteers, numerous government officials across India who provide essential permissions, and corporates who participate through CSR volunteering and other impactful initiatives.

It is our common nation-building objective to “Let no child go to school hungry ever!”.

Maximizing Social Impact – Delivering ₹19.2 in Social Value for Every ₹1 Spent

Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust also endeavors to enable rural uplift and transformation by aligning its activities along the four pillars of Vidya (Educare), Vaidya (Healthcare), Vaari (Water), and Vidyuth (Clean Energy)—leading to sustainable and ideal village development.

At Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust, we strive to nurture school-going children in rural India and the needy sections of society. We cater to their academic, health, nutritional, and emotional needs. The Annapoorna Breakfast Program ensures that no child goes to school hungry, actively fighting hidden hunger across underserved areas. If you’re searching for an NGO near me that truly makes an impact, look no further.

Annapoorna began in July 2012 with a handful of volunteers. As activities scaled, the initiative blossomed into a service platform for over 600 volunteers and thousands of teachers who work with Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust. With continuous support from institutional partners and dedicated government officials, Annapoorna now provides free morning nutrition to school-going children across 25 states and 4 Union Territories, reaching over 1 crore children through 106,000+ centers.

We work closely with 800+ local vendors through a decentralized model, using customized regional menus and maintaining standardization within regions to ensure quality. Beyond the Annapoorna Breakfast Program, the Trust installs RO-based drinking water plants, builds toilets in village schools, and conducts health screening for children.

Our volunteers come from diverse professional backgrounds and are driven purely by compassion and service. The values we uphold are love, humility, compassion, commitment, and teamwork. The schools have embraced the program wholeheartedly—attendance has increased, children’s health has improved, and teachers report students are more attentive and even arriving before school starts!

OUR SCRIPTURES SAY

Akashat Vayuhu, Vayur Agnihi, Agnir Apaha, Adyah Pruthivi, Pruthivya Oshadhayaha, Oshadhayo Annam, Annaath Purushaha

Meaning, from the space came air, so space is the first manifestation of God. From air came fire, which is the second manifestation. And then came water, the fourth manifestation. From water, the earth manifested and from it, the vegetation, which is the sixth manifestation. From vegetation came food, which is the seventh manifestation. Annaath Purushaha, the words in our logo, symbolises the eighth manifestation, that is life, jeevi, the unifying force binding all of us, the one serving as well as the served.

The Caring Hands

represents the love which is felt, shared and expressed in our work, both by the volunteers and the children. It is also symbolic of the unseen hand of the Universe, which has blessed, supported and literally carried our endeavour throughout.

Our Inspiration

It was the year 2000, when Baba spoke publicly about how pained He was when He read a newspaper article about an impoverished mother who, driven by hunger and desperation, poisoned her children and herself. He then took it upon Himself to feed the villagers in and around Puttaparthi, His hometown. Thus began the Grama Seva movement, a mission to reach out to the countless village-folk, with food and clothes, right at their doorsteps.
It is now our earnest desire to continue this legacy of Baba’s love and message through our work.

sri sathya sai annapoorna trust

Love All, Serve All and Help Ever, Hurt Never – These simple yet profound teachings of Sri Sathya Sai Baba are our guiding light, inspiration and standard. How much love are we putting in each step of the way? Are we serving every single child from the goodness of our heart? Are we grateful for the opportunity to serve? These are questions we ask of ourselves every moment and strive to answer. My Life is My Message. Love All, Serve All. Service to Man is Service to God.
