Karnataka State Budget Expands – SaiSure Fortified Ragi Health mix to 5 days a week for all 53 lakh Govt School Children in Karnataka, 7th March 2025

Karnataka Chief Minister Sri Siddaramaiah, in his record 16th State budget, presented on March 7, 2025, underscored a renewed commitment to enhancing child nutrition in government schools. The budget announced that the free morning nutrition program will now serve the SaiSure Millet (Ragi) Multi Nutrient Health Mix on all five school days a week, rather than just three.
This initiative, a partnership between the Karnataka State Government and the Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust, was originally launched on February 22, 2024, at Vidhana Soudha, in the presence of distinguished dignitaries including Honourable Chief Minister Sri Siddaramaiah, founder of Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust, Sadguru Sri Madhusudan Sai, Minister of Primary & Secondary Education and Sakala of Karnataka, Sri S. Madhu Bangarappa.
The SaiSure Millet Health Mix, when blended with the hot milk provided in schools, has garnered an overwhelmingly positive response from students, teaching staff, and the education department. It not only addresses physical hunger but also supplies essential nutrients vital for the healthy development of every child.
Covering 53 lakh government school children across Karnataka, the program has been allocated a total budget of Rs.100 crores. The Karnataka State Government will contribute 25% of the total cost, while the remaining 75% will be funded by the Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust, alongside corporate partners, foundations, and donors.

SaiSure is an example of Annapoorna Trust adding value to the milk scheme at Government schools where the government provides milk to children, while Annapoorna Trust adds the nutritional element in the form of the health mix. A true testament of Sarkara, Samaja & Sanstha coming together for the benefit of students who are our future citizens.
With this initiative, all 53 lakh government school children in Karnataka will benefit from enhanced nutrition, reinforcing the state’s commitment to child welfare and health.
