Cultivating Nutrition, Sustainability & Life Skills Through School Kitchen Gardens
At Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust, our vision of nourishing children goes beyond providing healthy morning nutrition. We believe that educating young minds about sustainable living and healthy food habits is equally important in shaping a healthier future.
In partnership with Inspire Brands, we were delighted to launch the Kitchen Garden Initiative across government schools in Shabad Mandal, Rangareddy District, with the distribution and plantation of vegetable seedlings and fruit plants at MPPS Nagarguda, MPPS Shabad (HW), and ZPHS Hyderabad.
The initiative encourages students to actively grow and nurture fruits and vegetables within their school campuses, fostering environmental awareness, nutrition education, and practical learning while providing access to fresh, chemical-free produce. These gardens are more than green spaces—they are living classrooms where children learn the values of responsibility, sustainability, and healthy living.
The programme was graced by Sri D. Laxman, Mandal Education Officer (MEO), along with Smt. Vasantha, Headmistress of ZPHS Hyderabad; Sri B. Krishnaiah, Headmaster of MPPS Nagarguda; Sri Praveen, Headmaster of MPPS Shabad (HW); and Sri K. Balraj, Boys High School Complex Headmaster. More than 10 Inspire Brands employees enthusiastically participated in the plantation drive, reflecting the spirit of collaborative service and employee volunteering.
Speaking on the occasion, the MEO appreciated the collaborative efforts of Inspire Brands and Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust in supporting government schools and encouraged students to nurture and maintain the gardens with care.
