Launch of the Morning Nutrition program in Gowribidanur Taluks in collaboration with Kellanova

On June 14, 2024, the Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust (also referred to as The Annapoorna Trust), in collaboration with Kellanova (formerly Kellanova’s), launched the Morning Nutrition program in Gowribidanur Taluk, marking a significant expansion of its efforts to address child malnutrition in rural areas.
Kellanova is a leading global food manufacturer renowned for cereals and convenience foods like cookies and crackers. They entered India in 1994 with a manufacturing plant in Maharashtra and later expanded to Sri City, Andhra Pradesh in 2015.
Kellanova’s has been known to engage in CSR initiatives such as ‘Bright Start,’ delivering fortified cereals and milk to the children to the economically disadvantaged children. In 2022, Kellanova partnered with Annapoorna Trust, providing their popular product ‘Chocos’ to rural children and launching the Morning Nutrition program, benefiting over 5,100 students in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. In 2023-24, their collaboration successfully extended to supporting 7,719 school children through the initiative.
As an expansion initiative, the launch was held at GMHPS Vidurashwatha in Gowribudnur Taluk, where Kellanova’s Choco Cereal will be served three days a week, alternating with ‘SaiSure Ragi Multi Nutrient Health Mix’ added along with milk for three days as part of the Morning Nutrition Program.
This collaboration exemplifies the 3S model of Sarkara (Government), Samaja (Society), and Sanstha (Like-Minded Institutions & Partners), illustrating how collective efforts can uplift society.
The event was graced by distinguished individuals including Mr. Srinivas Murthy (Block Education Officer of Gowribidnur Taluk), Mr. Narasimappa (ADPI in the Mid-Day Meal Department of Gowribidnur Taluk), and Mr. Chowdappa and Mr. Vidurashwatha (Cluster Resource Persons for Gowribidnur Taluk). Also, representing The Annapoorna Trust were Mr. Kiran B P (Regional Manager for Karnataka) and Mr. Rajiv R (Regional Manager for Karnataka).
A similar expansion launch is scheduled to take place at Satyavedu, Andhra Pradesh, in July 2024, in collaboration with Kellanova, where the Morning Nutrition Program is already underway for this academic year.
The partnership with Kellanova has driven significant advancements, promising to expand the reach and impact of the trust’s mission, benefiting a larger group of children needing nutritional support. The potential for positive change is immense as the Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust and Kellanova continue to work together and we look forward to more collaborations in the future.
