Nourishing the Future: Annapoorna Trust’s Collaboration with Air India SATS

At Annapoorna Trust, we work with the Vision of “Let no child go to school hungry ever!”. In this spirit, we are grateful to have partnered with Air India SATS (AISATS) during the financial year 2024–25 for the Morning Nutrition Program for the schools in the Chikkaballapur District, Karnataka.

Through this meaningful collaboration, 50,600 children received SaiSure, the fortified Ragi (Finger Millet) mix, alongside milk provided by the Government of Karnataka. This initiative aimed not only to address hunger but also the less visible challenge of hidden hunger—the lack of essential micronutrients during critical early years.

There was great appreciation and feedback from children and staff:

Harshitha, a 7th-grade student from GHPS Babasabara Palya, shared that she receives free Ragi Malt (Fortified SaiSure with milk) every day. She said it tastes delicious and gives her the nutrition she needs. More importantly, it helps her concentrate better and improve in her studies. She expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Air India SATS and the Annapoorna Trust for their support.

Monish Kumar, a 6th-grade student from GHPS Chikkadasarahalli, shared that they receive Ragi Malt (Fortified SaiSure with milk) every morning at 10 AM. He mentioned that earlier, they didn’t enjoy drinking plain milk, but now they look forward to the nutritious and tasty Ragi health mix. He feels it has made them sharper and physically stronger. Monish also sincerely requested that this program be continued every year.

Ms. Suma M.R., a teacher from a government school in the Muddenahalli Cluster, shared that the “SaiSure” fortified mix has been provided for the past few years and has shown noticeable positive impacts. She highlighted improvements in student attendance, particularly in punctuality, as children eagerly arrive at school looking forward to the Ragi health mix. Many students have even spoken about its great taste at home, expressing their desire for the program to continue.

Partnering with AISATS has been delightful. Their commitment to social responsibility and community welfare truly resonates with our values.

Such partnerships remind us that positive change is possible when hearts and hands come together in service. We at Annapoorna Trust remain hopeful and committed to continuing our work—one nutritious meal, one child at a time.
