Statewide Expansion of Annapoorna Morning Nutrition Program in Assam, 15th Feb 2025

On 15th February 2025, Assam celebrated the official statewide launch of the Annapoorna Morning Nutrition Program, following its successful pilot phase in January. The pilot program benefited 4.25 lakh government school children across 34 districts of the state.
The program is now set to expand. This launch is supported by Samagra Shiksha Assam which is the Assam government’s flagship initiative promoting equal education across the state.
As part of the Morning Nutrition Program, children will receive a nutritious and tasty drink made from a fortified millet-based mix and sweetened with jaggery. Served in the morning upon their arrival at school, this drink aims to address both morning hunger and hidden hunger, ultimately enhancing the children’s overall health and boosting their academic performance.
During the event, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam, Sri Himanta Biswa Sarma, and our revered Founder and Chairman of the Annapoorna Trust, Sadguru Sri Madhusudan Sai were present. They led the launch and discussed plans to expand the program to all 35 lakh government school children in Assam.

Key Discussions & Outcomes:
✅ Expansion Plan: Scaling the program to cover all government school children in Assam.
✅ Nutritional Enhancement: Optimizing the SaiSure Micronutrient Millet Mix with jaggery for improved child health.
✅ Implementation Strategy: Ensuring seamless delivery and monitoring the program’s impact on students.
Both Hon’ble CM and Hon’ble Education Minister Sri Ranoj Pegu personally tasted the SaiSure health drink, reaffirming their commitment to the program.
This initiative aligns with Annapoorna Trust’s vision of “Let No Child Go to School Hungry Ever Again,” promoting nutrition-led learning and holistic child development across Assam.
With this expansion, Assam is taking significant strides toward building a healthier, brighter future for its children.
