Farmers Meet at Sathya Sai Grama – 14th July 2024
“Nothing makes me happier than seeing such pure-hearted people in our place right here”, were the statements of warmth expressed by our dearest founder, Sadguru Sri Madhusudhan Sai as a heartfelt homecoming welcome to the distinguished farmers who were present at the Farmers Meet on the evening of 14th of July 2024.
Backdrop:
Ragi (Finger Millet) is a wonder grain with more benefits than one, making it a wholesome food. Especially in growing kids it aids as a calcium booster and is packed with minerals and vitamins.
Keeping these reasons in mind the “SaiSure Multinutrient Health Mix” is served to several government-school-going children who come to school with their hungry little bellies as a part of the Morning Nutrition Program.
The Ragi that goes into the preparation of, “SaiSure Multinutrient Health Mix” is directly sourced from this eminent group of farmers who belong to the Tiptur, Kunigal & Tumkur regions.
Why did they choose to supply here?
Because they enjoy double benefits.
- Farmers receive a higher price when they sell Ragi to the SaiSure Nutraceutical factory which supplies SaiSure health supplements to Annapoorna Trust.
- They are satisfied that Ragi produced by them, is being consumed by government school children in over 100,000 schools, most of whom come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
Despite the drought in nearby areas of the Taluk last year, their village received rainfall and successfully cultivated the ragi crop.
What kind of yajna (offering) could these farmers have possibly performed to receive rain in their taluk alone?
The farmers have extinguished the fire of hunger burning in the stomachs of thousands, lakhs, and crores of children, satisfying these famished children with the offering of Ragi malt made from their produce. This correlation could possibly explain the categorical rain showered in the Taluk.
As a result, they have more seeds to sow for a bountiful harvest this year, which can further fulfill the hunger of millions of children in India.
Chairman of Subhiksha, Sri Anand, Former President Organic Farming Empowered Committee, Government of Karnataka, has played a key role in encouraging agriculturists to cultivate a common crop in the region, resulting in significant yield improvements.
At the outset of supplying Ragi to the SaiSure Nutraceutical factory around a year back, he gathered farmers in his Taluk and assured them that if they cultivated Ragi organically, without any chemicals, they wouldn’t need to seek out buyers in the market.
As said by our Founding Chairman Sadguru Sri Madhusudan Sai, any thought that is pure and for the good of the society will materialize. Sri Anand a person of pure thoughts, believes that the Ragi served to lakhs of children should be free from poisonous chemicals. Similar to last year, the event was successful, and farmers returned this year with blessings from Sadguru for their Ragi seeds, which they will plant in their fields in anticipation of prosperous harvest.
Farmers hold a deep attachment to their harvested crop, parting with it with a heavy heart as they see it as a cherished part of their household, much like their own children.
Farmers hold a significance similar to soldiers who defend the nation. The day the nation accords farmers the same respect as it does soldiers is the day the nation will truly prosper.
