Expanding Nutrition Support in Telangana: Ragi Java Program Launched for Government Junior College Students

Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust is delighted to announce the expansion of its nutrition initiative in Telangana with the launch of the Ragi Java Program for Government Junior College students, marking an important step towards extending nutritional support to adolescents during their crucial years of growth and development.

For the past several years, the Trust has been serving 16.5 lakh Government school children from Classes 1 to 10 across Telangana through its morning nutrition program. This year brings a significant new addition with the introduction of the program for Government Junior College students, further strengthening the commitment towards ensuring better health and nourishment for young learners.

This initiative is being implemented in partnership with Hare Krishna Charities (HKM) and Manna Trust, whose collaboration has helped make this expansion possible. The preparation of the nutritious Ragi Java is being carried out in the kitchens of Hare Krishna Movement (HKM) and Manna Trust, ensuring hygienic preparation and timely distribution to students.

The program focuses on providing nutritious Ragi Java, a wholesome millet-based drink rich in essential nutrients that is especially beneficial for adolescent girls and young boys, supporting their health, energy levels, and overall well-being during these crucial growing years.

As part of the pilot phase, the program has been launched in 12 Government Junior Colleges in Hyderabad and 4 colleges in Kodangal Constituency, Narayanpet district, currently benefiting approximately 5,000 students.

It is truly heartening to witness this nourishing initiative reaching a new group of beneficiaries, creating opportunities to support students beyond school education. The Trust sincerely hopes the program will be warmly received by students, teachers, and government authorities, paving the way for wider implementation across the state. With nearly 1.7 lakh Government Junior College students in Telangana, this pilot initiative represents a humble yet hopeful beginning towards expanding nutritional support and ensuring that more young minds receive the nourishment they need to learn, grow, and thrive.

At Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust, every initiative is guided by the belief that proper nutrition is the foundation for education, health, and a brighter future for every child.
