Grocery & vegetable kits to migrant families
Migrant workers were among the worst hit during nationwide lock downs. Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust in collaboration with Prashanti Bala Mandira Trust prepared wholesome grocery kits. They contained rice, lentils, pulses, tea powder, sugar and salt, cooking oil and other essential condiments and spices. Fresh common vegetables like potatoes, tomatoes and onions were also part of this dry grocery kit. This was distributed by the Annapoorna team in Hyderabad, to migrant workers and their families. Shankar Nagar, Peerzadiguda and Boduppal bus depot were the areas of distribution in Hyderabad city. These migrant workers could not get back to their homes, during statewide lock downs and were out of jobs now. Hunger was widespread amongst them. This service continued for days till lock downs were lifted.

Leaving one’s hometown behind to make a living and then not to be eligible for any government relief, during the pandemic can be devastating. Amid strict lock downs these 17 migrant workers and their families found themselves in similar conditions. No ration cards or identity cards meant no government relief. When Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust in collaboration with Prashanti Bala Mandira Trust, joined hands, then steps were taken to bring relief in time of adversity. Dry grocery kits comprising of 15kgs of rice, a liter of cooking oil, lentils, spices, and vegetables were distributed to these 17 homes in Buddha Nagar bringing much needed relief.
