Share Our Strength & One World One Family Mission Unite to Strengthen Global Fight Against Child Hunger, Washington, D.C. , 19th May 2026

A new India–US humanitarian partnership is set to strengthen school nutrition programmes across India and other developing nations. Share Our Strength, known for its No Kid Hungry campaign in the United States, has partnered with One World One Family Mission to address morning hunger among school-going children.

At a special gathering held in Washington, D.C., leaders from both organisations reiterated that child hunger is a solvable challenge when governments, businesses, philanthropists, chefs, civil society organisations, and communities work together with a shared sense of responsibility.

Share Our Strength announced that through its collaborative initiatives in India, nearly 600,000 children have already been reached with close to 30 million meals over the past few years. Building on this momentum, the organisation plans to incubate a new global entity, Strength Global, focused on India and international anti-hunger efforts.

In the evening, a Purposeful Private Dinner was organised at the headquarters of Share Our Strength in Washington, D.C., bringing together philanthropists, business leaders, supporters, and well-wishers to further discussions on addressing childhood hunger and strengthening humanitarian collaborations globally.

The programme commenced with an informal networking session, followed by a welcome address by Mr. Chuck Scofield, Vice President of Share Our Strength, along with presentations by both organisations showcasing their ongoing initiatives and impact in nutrition, education, and healthcare.

Sri Anand Kadali, CEO of Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust, then shared insights on the current partnership strategy and the roadmap ahead towards addressing morning hunger among children attending government schools.

A fireside conversation followed between Billy Shore and Sadguru Sri Madhusudan Sai, during which they reflected on the evolving global movement to combat hunger and malnutrition.

Reflecting on the philosophy of One World One Family, Sadguru explained that hunger and poverty are not merely economic issues, but are rooted in human selfishness and social division. He stressed that lasting solutions can emerge only when individuals and communities come together beyond barriers of caste, creed, nationality, and religion to collectively care for one another.

The discussion also highlighted the importance of partnerships and advocacy. Sadguru noted that while governments possess resources and policy frameworks, collaborative efforts from citizens, organisations, and global partners are essential to ensure effective implementation and scalable impact.

Mr. Billy Shore and Ms. Debbie Shore shared the journey of Share Our Strength, which began in response to the Ethiopian famine over four decades ago and has since evolved into one of America’s leading anti-hunger movements. They described how culinary events, public advocacy, and strategic partnerships have helped build strong support networks for addressing child hunger in both the United States and India.

During the interaction, Sadguru also spoke about the Mission’s expansion into several countries, including nutrition initiatives in Africa, where many children depend entirely on school meals for daily sustenance. He highlighted the growing need for global collaboration, especially in regions facing food insecurity and disrupted aid systems.

A significant focus of the discussion was the role of government partnerships in scaling nutrition programmes. Sadguru appreciated Share Our Strength’s experience in influencing policy and public advocacy, expressing hope that collaborative efforts could help strengthen school nutrition initiatives across various Indian states and other nations.

The conversation further explored the importance of addressing the root causes of hunger through education, healthcare, human values, and community participation. Sadguru described Annapoorna not merely as an organisation, but as a “people’s movement” where individuals come together for the welfare of society.

When asked about the Mission’s vision of success, Sadguru explained that true success lies not only in numbers served, but in the gradual transformation of human consciousness — where individuals strive each day to become more compassionate, responsible, and selfless than before.

The evening concluded with an engaging question-and-answer session, followed by networking interactions among attendees, reinforcing a shared commitment towards building sustainable and compassionate solutions to address global hunger and malnutrition.
