Meeting with National Service Scheme (NSS) head of Karnataka and regional heads of NSS for implementing SaiSure Nutrition intervention in Raichur, Yadgir and Gulbarga districts – 27th Jul 2022

As part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ which commenced in March 2021 to commemorate 75 years of Indian Independence, community development scheme in 750 villages was envisaged previously by the chief minister of Karnataka, Mr Basavaraj Bommai during his Independence Day speech in 2021. The planning and statistics department led by Dr Shalini Rajneesh had identified and surveyed 750 villages with the help of NSS volunteers. SaiSure multi-nutrient health mix by the Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust, being the nutrition partner working with Government of Karnataka, is sure to play an important role in this development scheme by catering to 300 villages.

 

“SaiSure” is Annapoorna’s nutritious and delicious nutrient supplement mixed with milk and provided totally free of charge.  “SaiSure” is certified by the FSSAI, TUV Labs, Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), and is manufactured in an FDA-approved facility.

 

On 27th Jul 2022, Annapoorna Trust members Mr. Anand Kadali, Mr. Sai Prasad Ivaturi, Mr. Jayaprakash Tallam & Mr. Prabhakar Gupta met the NSS head of Karnataka and regional heads of NSS for Raichur, Yadgir and Gulbarga districts at Gulbarga University in Kalaburagi.  They explained the importance of SaiSure multi nutrient health supplement in improving the health parameters such as – decline in wasting, stunting, malnutrition, and better BMI in children. They also explained, how this is designed to meet 50% of the recommended daily allowance (RDA) of most of the Micronutrients. Discussions followed on regarding the ways of implementing SaiSure health mix distribution in Government schools across 300 villages comprising of more than 60,000 children in Kalaburagi, Yadgir & Raichur districts of Karnataka. NSS team would be the Trust’s collaborating partner for this Nutrition intervention, who will be providing on-the-ground support in conjunction with the Gulbarga University and Raichur University.

 

Close to 60 NSS members and 40 student volunteers also participated in this productive meeting.
