IMPACT of providing Grocery Kits to Mid-Day Meal Cooks in collaboration with RIST-PFC – Tirupati Rural – Phase III – Andhra Pradesh

Annapoorna Trust in collaboration with ‘Rural India Supporting Trust’ (RIST) and ‘Partnerships For Change’ (PFC) has been reaching out to support the families of 15000 Government Mid-Day Meal (MDM) cooks.

 

As a part of this relief programme during Phase-III of the project, 262 cooks across different mandals of Tirupati Rural constituency received 1 Month dry ration kits on the 12th and 13th of May 2022.

 

The COVID-19 pandemic is more than a health crisis; it is an economic crisis, a humanitarian crisis and a human rights crisis. Coming out of this crisis will require society, government and organizations approach driven by compassion and solidarity. A recovery process that builds back better, is the need of the hour. India’s vaccination drive being unparalleled in scale and speed, is well into the upward recovery process. Non-profits such as RIST, PFC with Annapoorna Trust is helping in the recovery process by meeting the immediate basic needs of the deprived and working towards brighter future of the children in our society.

Each kit consists of 10kg of rice, 2kg of wheat flour, 1 kg of toor dal, 1kg channa dal, 1L cooking oil, 2kg of sugar, 1kg of salt, vermicelli, chilli powder, jeera, mustard, and turmeric.

 

It is to be noted that, many people around Tirupati rural live under extremely poor condition. Demography of this area is extremely hot & dry having very less employment opportunities. There is a usual practice of parents leaving their children under the supervision of Grandparents & go to far off places in search of employment. But COVID-19 had prevented them from venturing outside. Keeping these aspects in mind, RIST, PFC & Annapoorna Trust came forward to provide dry ration kits to mid-day meal cooks located in remote areas of Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh.
