IMPACT of providing Grocery Kits to Mid Day Meal Cooks in collaboration with RIST-PFC

COVID RELIEF Support – With Love & Gratitude from Mid Day Meal Cooks – Chikkaballapura district of Karnataka

 

Annapoorna Trust in collaboration with ‘Rural India Supporting Trust’ (RIST) and  ‘Partnerships For Change’ (PFC) has been reaching out to support  GOVT. MID DAY MEAL (MDM) COOKS.

 

As a part of this relief programme over 2500 MDM cooks in Chikkaballapur district will receive 1 Month dry ration kits. Phase I of distribution of 1600 kits during the 2nd & 3rd week of June 2021 in Chikkaballapura, Sidlaghatta, Gudibande & Chintamani taluks has been completed successfully. Phase II would be covering remaining taluks & villages in Bagepalli & Gowribidanur.

 

Second wave of covid has hit the common people hard. There were hardly anyone approaching the mid-day meal cooks whose means of daily living were affected with no work or salary in hand.

 

In Phase 1 of the Project, 1568 Mid Day Meal Cooks were distributed Grocery Kits in Chikkaballapur District comprising of the Taluks Chikkaballapura, Sidlaghatta, Gudibande and Chintamani with numbers as depicted in the below table:

In the words of Murali S who is a cluster resource person at Poshettahalli, was grateful for the timely help done at this time of pandemic with good quality food grains.

Seenin Sultana who is Head mistress at GULPS School was appreciative of the fact that at this difficult time Sri Satya Sai Annapoorna Trust came forward to assist us. She conveyed heartfelt gratitude to all of us.

 

 

Smt. Umadevi who is assistant cook at Govt. higher primary school, Poshetahalli narrated the difficulties they are facing during this second wave. At one end, schools are closed due to which there is no work or salary & at the other end there is no one calling us for any sort of work to make our ends meet. On behalf of the midday meal cooks she thanked whole heartedly for the service rendered at this crucial time.

 

Shiva Kumar D R, teacher at Govt. lower primary school, Nelamaneparthi stating that people are really shattered in these difficult times & not getting any sort of menial job to meet their requirements. School staff & management are thankful for the help rendered to mid-day meal cooks in the form of dry ration kits.

 


Sister Udaya Bharathi, Head Mistress & manager of St. Joseph’s Convent Girls High School was very happy & thankful that the mid-day meal cooks will be provided with dry ration kits who are usually not much thought about & being in the lower strata of society getting an average income.

 

Lakshmi Devamma, Head mistress, Vapsandra School stated that Mid-day meal cooks & Assistant staff were frequently asking if any donor or society has come up to help them. Hearing the news that they would be provided with the dry ration kits, they were very delighted and grateful.

 


In the words of Prabhakar V, Cluster resource person at Devaramalur: As told by our elders “Instead of hundreds of beautiful faces, one beautiful mind who would take care & alleviate pain is worthwhile”. This is a laudable work rendered & accomplished by Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust by providing one month equivalent of dry ration kit for Akshara Dasoha & assistant cooks. He even thanked the trust on behalf of education dept & even came forward to render assistance for efficient execution in any of the future endeavours of the trust.

 


Each grocery kit distributed consists of 10kg of rice, 2kg of wheat flour, 1 kg of toor dal, 1kg channa dal, 1 litre cooking oil, 2kg of sugar, 1kg of salt, vermicelli, chilli powder, jeera, mustard and turmeric.
