During the tough times of COVID-19, as the country is still ravaging against the deadly virus, our frontline workers- doctors and nurses, carers, and paramedics, have been working tirelessly to save our lives. They are working in stressful and frightening environments.

To encourage and ensure the good health of our frontline workers, we Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust, in collaboration with Adamya Chetana, are providing lunch and dinner meals to our COVID relief warriors in the months of May & June 2021.

The meals are being distributed every day to hospital staff attending COVID-19 patients to over 40 hospitals across Bengaluru. The meals are being hygienically prepared at Adamya Chetna’s well-equipped kitchen located in Bengaluru.

The volunteers of Annapoorna Trust and Adamya Chetana have come together from different locations to pack the meals for our frontline workers. They packed about 4800 meal containers for lunch and 2300 meal containers for dinner. Along with hospital workers, food was distributed to crematorium workers as well.

Below are the experiences shared by doctors, staff etc :

In the words of Rashmi, Nursing superintendent, Rangadorai memorial hospital, Shankarpuram, In this time of covid, there is no proper transport or bus facilities. Nursing & house keeping staff especially the women employees even faced difficulties in preparing food at their home & come to hospital on time. This has been a real blessing for all of us at this crucial time by providing nutritious cooked meals.

Sabeena, housekeeping incharge at Sagar hospital has conveyed heartfelt thanks to Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna & Adamya Chetana trusts for providing lunch & dinner which was delicious, hot & hygienic as well.

Shridhar Shetty who is a security officer at Rangadorai memorial hospital, Shankarpuram narrated as, it was very helpful for the staff who come to hospital early in the morning. It was always hard for them to prepare food at home & come to the hospital. Some were facing hardships at their homes as well. Food being provided during this time has been very helpful & are partaking food very happily.

Dr. Sukanya at KIMS hospital, Chamarajapet has narrated her views in her own words as thus : In the unstable situation of covid pandemic where all the restaurants are closed & even if available at any particular place are skeptical to stand in queue & get them, all the hospital doctors, staff & workers are in a tense situation as to what to do next. Coming to this difficult situation by stepping forward to provide food & helping the front line workers especially across 40 hospitals is a great number. At least stress with regards to food has gone which will enable the staff to focus on other important activities during this pandemic time.

As per Ms. Vedavathi PP, Nursing superintendent, KIMS hospital, Chamarajapet, during this covid times, some of our staff were in hospital 24 hrs as well. There were no restaurants outside. Doctors, nurses, ward boys including scavengers benefited from this. Providing food at this crucial time was very helpful which was at the same time good in quantity & quality as well. I used to board the hospital bus at 6 am in the morning & reach by 8.00 am. Hot food was ready as soon as we came to the hospital. Food is a very important component for corona front line warriors.

Hospital staff of Sir C V Raman General hospital have conveyed heartfelt thanks to Annapoorna & Adamya Chetana Trusts for having come forward to give lunch & dinner for front line workers working in wards & hospital. He emphasised on the fact that food was palatable, hot, tasty, delicious & hygienically packed for the last one month.

Lastly but not the least is the experience shared from Chamarajapet crematorium worker Venugopal stating as he works for almost 16 hours a day & has conveyed his heartfelt thanks for the food & succour been provided in these tough times.
