Under the programme, students will receive SaiSure Ragi Multi Nutrient Health Mix as a morning nutritional supplement. The ragi-based supplement is intended to complement the students’ regular diet and nutritional intake while encouraging healthy nutritional practices.
The programme was initially launched at the college on 16 September 2026, marking the beginning of Annapoorna’s effort to extend its nutrition initiative to young women pursuing higher education. The formal inauguration on 1 October in the presence of Vice-Chancellor further marked the institutional association and commencement of the initiative.
Emphasis on Nutrition and Healthy Eating
Speaking at the occasion, Prof. C. M. Thyagaraj highlighted the importance of nutritious food and healthy eating habits for students. He emphasised the need for young people to pay greater attention to their health, make balanced food choices and avoid unhealthy eating habits.
He also noted that good health is an important foundation for students as they pursue their academic goals and participate in their daily activities.
A Step Beyond School Education
Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust has traditionally focused its Morning Nutrition Programme on supporting children during their school years. The initiative at Sangolli Rayanna First Grade Constituent College represents a step towards extending this nutrition support to students in higher education.
The programme seeks to complement the students’ regular diet and support their nutritional well-being during an important phase of their academic and personal development.
The initiative is being taken forward through the collaboration between Kittur Rani Channamma University, Sangolli Rayanna First Grade Constituent College and Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust, with a shared focus on supporting the nutritional well-being of young women and enabling them to pursue their education with better health, strength and confidence.
