Visit of Corporates from CreditAccess Grameen to Annapoorna Headquarters, June 6th 2024
The members of The Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust (also referred to as Annapoorna Trust) had the greatest pleasure of having Mr. Satish Rao – Chief Operating Officer, Ms. Vinoda TN – Program Manager from the CreditAccess Grameen – a leading microfinance institution on their visit to Muddenahalli, the Headquarters of the Trust on 6th June 2024.
Credit Access Grameen is India’s Largest Microfinance Institution. They are driven by the vision of fostering rural transformation through entrepreneurship by implementing a systematic approach to expand across districts in rural India.
Annapoorna Trust is India’s largest Morning Nutrition intervention program primarily targeting rural school-going children. In the past SAM (Severely Acute Malnourished) and MAM (Moderately Acute Malnourished) children have been identified and supported in various rural regions.
During COVID pandemic, SaiSure Malt Health Mix served as a pre-emptive nutritional intervention for SAM & MAM children. Teachers in various locations who implemented these programs observed significant health improvements in malnourished children for instance, a teacher from Byranayakanahalli village, witnessed a malnourished child’s weight going from 10.4 kg to 11.2 kg over three months. This is just one among several instances of improved overall health observed in children.
In this context, upon knowing the impactful initiatives of the Annapoorna Trust serving pre-school, infants, pregnant women & school children, Credit Access Grameen’s CSR Wing team had come forward to gain insights about project implementation to serve the underprivileged, SAM & MAM children in Karnataka state.
During their visit, members of Annapoorna Trust participated in meaningful exchanges and shared insights into The Morning Nutrition Program. They also provided an overview of past interventions undertaken for various age groups. Additionally, they highlighted that during the COVID-19 pandemic, a high-level committee headed by Dr. Devi Shetty had recommended SaiSure as a preventive intervention for both adults and children.
Later in the day the members of the Annapoorna Trust guided them on a visit to the SaiSure Nutritions factory, which supplies SaiSure health supplements to the Annapoorna Trust.
It was truly inspiring to see the enthusiasm and sincere interest of the CreditAccess Grameen team in getting to know the initiatives taken by the Trust in Nutrition area. We eagerly look forward to cultivating our partnership with CreditAccess Grameen, united by our shared commitment to enhancing rural India.
