Morning Nutrition launch at ZPHS school Mustabad, Rajanna Sircilla district, Telangana – 29th August 2022

On 29th August 2022, Morning Nutrition Program was launched at ZPHS school, Mustabad in Rajanna Sircilla district of Telangana. This is a part of the relaunch of Morning Nutrition Program in various districts of Telangana, initiated on 3rd August 2022 in Bhuvanagiri district in the presence of P. Sabitha Indra Reddy, Hon’ble Education Minister.

 

In this first phase of the launch in Sircilla district, Ragi Java (Ragi malt) drink with Jaggery was introduced to 80 schools comprising 9885 children. Subsequently, this would be increased to 30,000 children across the district. This Ragi malt would currently be provided on alternate days. Rich in calcium, and a great source of protein, fibre and various other nutrients, Ragi is known for its innumerable health benefits and nutritional value especially for growing children.

 

During the launch event, the teachers and cooks were provided with sarees as a token of gratitude and in recognition of their contributions, and as a further encouragement to continue supporting this mission of providing Morning Nutrition. Mr. Anand Kadali, Executive Secretary and Trustee of Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust addressed the gathering by stressing on the importance of sarkara (government), samaja (society) and sanstha (organization) working together to make this mission sustainable and at the same time cost-effective, so that the entire 30,000 children in the district are subsequently cared for. He further shared about the three different variants of Morning Nutrition which can be opted –

 

Option 1: “SaiSure Health Mix which is a nutrient powder containing medically recommended Protein, Vitamins, Iron, and other micronutrients in vanilla & chocolate flavours.

 

Option 2: “Ragi Cereals Health drink” contains significant amounts of vitamin C and E. It is also high on B complex vitamins thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, folic acid, calcium, magnesium, iron, and phosphorus.

 

Option 3: Cooked breakfast prepared at school kitchen premises (local palate items like Upma, Kichdi, Poha etc).
