As part of relaunch of the Morning Nutrition Program in various districts of Telangana post COVID, a launch event was organized at Anantharam, Jagtial district in Telangana on 29th August 2022 at MPUPS School. 2500 children across 25 govt. schools will receive Ragi Java (Ragi malt) drink with jaggery on alternate days in this region.

Ragi is considered one of the most nutritious cereals and helps maintain good health. An excellent source of calcium, protein and rich source of vitamins, it is extremely beneficial for growing children.

The launch event took place in the presence of MEO Smt. Gayatri; Mr. Dasharath Reddy – HM, Velgonda MPPS; Mr. Komaraiah – schoolteacher. From Annapoorna Trust, officials present were – Mr. Anand Kadali – Executive Secretary and Trustee of Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust; Mr. Sushanth Karanth – Manager Corporate Comms; Mr. Dhananjay Rao Ejapu – Manager in Marketing & Digital Communication; Mr. Mahadev Naresh – Operations Executive; Mr. Srikanth Vooturi – Annapoorna active volunteer & In-charge of Jagtial district; Mr. J. Rajashekar and Mr K. Srinivas – volunteers.

In the event, MEO Smt. Gayatri addressed the gathering by saying she was inspired by Sathya Sai Baba to serve the society and she had served SaiSure to school children at Thakkalapalli before the COVID pandemic while working there. She further went on to motivate the children to inculcate values as a priority, to serve the society. Mr. Dasharath Reddy – HM of Velgonda MPPS brought in requests from many other HMs to start Morning Nutrition in their respective schools as well. He was a Sai youth earlier who used to participate in Grama seva activities with his family in those days. Now he is an active Sai Vrinda volunteer since 2015.

Annapoorna Trust volunteers, Mr. J Rajashekhar and K. Srinivas, who became the right-hand personnel for Annapoorna team, were actively involved in the execution of events and seva activities. Mr. Komaraiah, teacher of the school, handled supply of water, steel glasses, dresses etc., for the event. A schoolteacher came forward and expressed her motherly care by donating large glasses as hot raagi drink given in small glasses would be difficult to be handled by the children. Collective team effort is sure to bring about execution of a task in a more effective way!

Request from one more school – Velgonda ZPHS to start Morning Nutrition has been graciously accepted and 5 more schools have given their requests as well, for whom the Trust is happy to provide. The path is laid and the goal is clear that no child goes to school hungry, ever and the Trust remains committed to this vision.
