Launch of SaiSure Morning Nutrition Program in Puducherry for 25000 govt school children, 23rd June 2022
On 23 June 2022, Launch of SaiSure Morning Nutrition Program in Puducherry for 25,000 govt. school children took place in the presence of Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan – Hon. Lt. Governor of Puducherry, Mr. N Rangasamy – Hon. Chief Minister of Puducherry & Mr. A Namasivayam – Hon. Education Minister of Puducherry at Raj Nivas, Puducherry.
Sadguru Sri Madhusudan Sai – Founder & Trustee, Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust presided the event. Annapoorna Trustees Mr. Anand Kumar, Mr. Sai Prasad Ivaturi, Mr. Tallam Jayaprakash, Mr. Prabhakar Gupta & Mrs. Kusum Kunchaparty also participated in the event along with Annapoorna employees.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Lt. Governor of Puducherry, Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan said, “I am also a devotee of Sri Sathya Sai Baba under whose guidance many social service activities were undertaken in healthcare, education & public works which is being continued even today. I recently visited a government school near Raj bhavan where I noticed the children looked very tired without morning nutrition. This multi nutrient health supplement called SaiSure shall be provided to school children along with milk. In the first phase, it would be provided for children between class 1 to class 5. This program is for all the children of Karaikal, Mahe, Yenam and Puducherry and would prove to be very beneficial to all the children. According to me, nutritional food is required for children to study well and score good marks. According to one research, children of well-to-do families get food that is rich with nutrients in the right proportion, but this is not available for every other child. For those who suffer from poverty, this nutritional powder would be really beneficial in providing the necessary vitamins required for the child’s development. This is the prime reason for us to come forward to take up this initiative. The New National Education policy takes forward education, culture & health together. All the state governments are requested to understand & assimilate the NEP which has several benefits. I wish to extend this initiative to pregnant women as well, in the coming days.”
Thereafter, Mr. N Rangasamy – Hon Chief Minister of Puducherry said, “Prior to the pandemic, our government was already providing milk, biscuits & fruits to children. Happy to note that we have now restarted morning nutrition to children post COVID pandemic in collaboration with Annapoorna Trust.”
Lastly, the education secretary, Mr. P Jawahar IAS said, “SaiSure is specifically designed for the growth of children & catering to 50% of required RDA (Recommended Dietary Allowance) for each child.”
