IMPACT of providing Grocery Kits to needy tribal families in collaboration with RIST-PFC – Durgapur – Phase III – West Bengal

Annapoorna Trust in collaboration with ‘Rural India Supporting Trust’ (RIST) and ‘Partnerships For Change’ (PFC) has been reaching out to support the families of 15000 Government Mid-Day Meal (MDM) cooks. 

 

As a part of this relief programme during Phase-III of the project, 100 needy families of primary school children in Durgapur, West Bengal received 1 Month dry ration kits on 21-Nov 2021. 

 

The Covid-19 pandemic is a social and an economic crisis just as much as it is a health one – its repercussions, severe and far-reaching, are being felt across the world. With rise in unemployment rate and a decline in income in several households, several informal workers, families, labourers are getting pushed into deeper poverty. Annapoorna Trust in collaboration with ‘Rural India Supporting Trust’ (RIST) and ‘Partnerships For Change’ (PFC) have come forward to the assistance of vulnerable populations & set the stage for lasting recovery. 

 

Distribution of dry ration kits took place at Sovapur FP school premises in the presence of Bhaskar Ghosh – State Secretary Usthi United Primary Teachers Welfare Association, Ranjan Saha – Head Teacher Sovapur Free Primary School, Subhajit Roy Mukherjee – Regional Coordinator Annapoorna Trust, Bhay Bhanjan Saha – Trustee Aarogya Vahini Trust, Ajay Shaw – Prog Manager Aarogya Vahini Trust & members of Aarogya Vahini Team with the Primary School Teachers of Durgapur.

 

 

This event was organised on the occasion of the 96th Birth Anniversary Celebrations of Sri Sathya Sai Baba for the families of the primary school children who were beneficiaries of the SaiSure programme which commenced during the COVID pandemic last year. Almost 800 children were being benefitted through Sai Sure and Teachers of the Primary School have been instrumental in continuation of the program. Relief materials were organised from Kolkata and transported through truck & ambulance by Aarogya Vahini Team Members and with the help of the teachers at the Free Primary School.

 

 

Guests shared the benefits of SaiSure for the children and the ration kits supplied to be of immense help to the neediest families of these underserved areas.
