Annapoorna Trust in Puducherry: Introducing SaiSure Nutrition
As we continued our efforts to improve children’s nutrition, we introduced SaiSure, our scientifically formulated multinutrient health mix.
On 13 September 2019, we launched SaiSure in two government schools in Puducherry, benefiting 580 children.
SaiSure was mixed with milk provided by the government, making it a simple and practical way to enhance the nutritional value of the morning drink.
This initiative marked an important step in our efforts to provide children with additional micronutritional support.
The programme also demonstrated how existing government nutrition initiatives could be strengthened through meaningful partnerships and nutritional interventions.
Restarting Our SaiSure Morning Nutrition Programme for 25,000 Children
The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted regular school activities and affected the daily routines of children across the country.
As schools gradually reopened, we resumed our efforts to ensure that children could once again receive morning nutrition.
A significant milestone in our journey with Annapoorna Trust in Puducherry came on 23 June 2022, when we officially relaunched the SaiSure Morning Nutrition Programme for 25,000 government school children.
The launch took place at Raj Nivas, Puducherry, in the presence of:
- Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan, Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry.
- Sri N. Rangasamy, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Puducherry.
- Sri A. Namasivayam, Hon’ble Education Minister of Puducherry.
- Sadguru Sri Madhusudan Sai, Founder and Trustee of Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust.
The programme aimed to benefit children studying in government schools across all four districts of the Union Territory.
SaiSure was provided along with milk supplied by the Government of Puducherry, ensuring that children received additional nutritional support during their school mornings.
The launch represented a renewed commitment towards strengthening child nutrition through government and institutional collaboration.
Annapoorna Trust in Puducherry: Expanding Across All Four Districts
Our mission did not stop with the initial launch in Puducherry. We continued working towards extending the benefits of morning nutrition to children in the remaining districts.
On 12 and 14 December 2022, we expanded our SaiSure Morning Nutrition Programme to Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam.
This expansion marked an important milestone, as our Morning Nutrition Programme established its presence across all four districts of the Union Territory.
The programme reached 27,575 children across 267 government schools.
SaiSure multinutrient health mix was provided along with milk supplied by the Government of Puducherry, on all five days of the school week.
The expansion included:
- Puducherry: Continued morning nutrition support for government school children.
- Karaikal: SaiSure launch at Government Middle School, Thirunallar.
- Mahe: Expansion of the nutrition initiative to government schools.
- Yanam: SaiSure launch at Dr. Zakir Hussain Government English Medium Primary School on 14 December 2022.
Reaching all four districts strengthened our commitment to ensuring that more children could benefit from consistent morning nutrition.
Strengthening Our Partnership with the Government of Puducherry
Our work in Puducherry has been strengthened through continued engagement with government officials and educational authorities.
On 14 June 2023, our representatives met the Secretary of Education, Sri P. Jawahar, and the District Magistrate and Collector, Sri E. Vallavan, to discuss our ongoing initiatives and the progress of the Morning Nutrition Programme.
The discussions focused on continuing and expanding nutrition support for government school children.
On 23 August 2023, our National Manager and Regional Manager met the Director of School Education, Puducherry, to share updates about the programme.
At that time, we were serving 28,578 children across Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam.
The children were receiving SaiSure Malt Multinutrient Health Mix along with milk provided by the government on all five days of the school week.
We also discussed the possibility of expanding the programme to cover all 85,000 school children in the Union Territory, with the support of the government and associated partners.
These interactions reflected our continued commitment to working together with government institutions to strengthen children’s nutrition
How SaiSure Supports Our Morning Nutrition Programme
At the heart of our Puducherry initiative is SaiSure, a scientifically formulated multinutrient health mix designed to provide essential vitamins and minerals.
When mixed with milk, SaiSure enhances the nutritional value of the drink and provides additional micronutritional support to growing children.
Our approach focuses on making nutrition accessible, practical and enjoyable for children.
By integrating SaiSure with the milk supplied through the Government of Puducherry, we have been able to strengthen the existing morning nutrition intervention without making it complicated for schools.
This reflects our belief that meaningful nutritional support can be achieved through simple, scalable and sustainable solutions.
Annapoorna Trust in Puducherry: Growing Through Collective Seva
