Supporting Rural Education and Nutrition: Annapoorna Trust at Vivekananda Gurukulam

Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust, under the divine guidance of Sadguru Sri Madhusudan Sai, continues to extend its mission of “Let no child go to school hungry, ever!” by supporting children in rural and underprivileged communities.

On 19th September 2025, Mr. Kiran B P, Regional Manager – Operations (Karnataka), visited the Vivekananda Gurukulam at Ramohalli, Kengeri, which is a unit of Ramakrishna Yogashrama.

Vivekananda Gurukulam, operational since the last four years, provides free hostel facilities and education to rural students from 6th to 10th standard, irrespective of caste or creed. This initiative has been a beacon of hope for children from economically challenged backgrounds, helping them access quality education and holistic development.

Ramakrishna Yogashrama, a registered Trust established in 1993 in Kengeri, Bengaluru, was founded to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s historic speech at the Chicago Parliament of Religions.

During this visit, SaiSure Ragi Multi-Nutrient Health Mix was provided to the students. Upon request from the Gurukulam, the Trust has assured that SaiSure Ragi Fortified Health Mix will be provided freely.

This initiative aligns with the Trust’s vision to bridge the nutritional gap among school-going children, ensuring they receive the essential nutrients needed for their healthy growth and cognitive development.

Words of Inspiration from Swami Yogeshwaranandaji

Swami Yogeshwaranandaji, from Vivekananda Gurukula, addressed the students and highlighted the harsh reality of poverty in India, where even providing a glass of milk daily is beyond reach for many families. He emphasized that while adding a nutritional mix to milk can greatly enhance a child’s health, almost 50% of the population cannot afford it.

He expressed deep appreciation for the work of Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust, which is currently serving SaiSure Fortified Health Mix to over 55 lakh children across Karnataka — calling it a remarkable humanitarian effort.

Swami Yogeshwaranandaji also praised the educational institutions and university established by the Trust, noting that they offer world-class quality education and infrastructure, surpassing even many private institutions.

Recalling his personal visit to Sathya Sai Grama, he shared his happiness and admiration on witnessing the selfless humanitarian services being rendered under the guidance of Sadguru Sri Madhusudan Sai.

The children happily enjoyed their glass of SaiSure. We sincerely wish these young students grow into responsible, compassionate, and capable citizens, contributing to the betterment of the nation in various fields.
