Meet with Puducherry Secretary Education and District Magistrate – 14th June 2023
On 14th June 2023, Annapoorna Trust representatives met the Secretary Education of Puducherry, Sri Jawahar, and thereafter, the Hon’ble District Magistrate and Collector, Mr. E. Vallavan. They apprised them about the ongoing work of the Trust and requested continued support for this year as well. Earlier in the day, they met the Honourable Chief Minister of Puducherry, Sri N. Rangasamy.
Santosh Allath – National Manager of Annapoorna Trust briefed them with regards to various initiatives taken by the Trust since many years. He was accompanied by T Sarvanan – Regional Manager of Tamil Nadu & Puducherry region.
Annapoorna Trust began its morning nutrition initiatives in Puducherry in 2018 for 24,000 government school children by serving them cookies. Following this, SaiSure morning nutrition was launched in Puducherry before the COVID pandemic. In June 2022, SaiSure morning nutrition for over 25,000 government school children was re-launched in the presence of Hon. Lt. Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan, Sri N Rangasamy – Hon. Chief Minister of Puducherry, and Mr. A Namasivayam – Hon. Education Minister of Puducherry at Raj Nivas, Puducherry. This program is continuing successfully to date. SaiSure is a scientifically designed multi-nutrient supplement that, when added to the milk, significantly enhances vital nutrients such as iron and vitamins, making it a nutritious, delicious, and wholesome nourishment for children. This is provided as a supplement free-of-cost to the milk currently provided under the milk scheme programme of the Govt. of Puducherry.
Overall, it was a positive day, with the Secretary asking the Trust to send a proposal and Hon’ble CM guiding his PA to look into continued collaboration & support.
Good Nutrition, along with Good Education, will upscale the well-being of children, thus helping the vision of a hunger-free India come true.
