The launch event was held in the presence of various government officials and school staff, along with Annapoorna Trust volunteers. At the event in Buruguda, the Chief Guests were Sri Rahul Raj – IAS, Collector, and Sri Ashok – DEO along with the Head Master of the School, Sri Udaybabu. At the Bhatpally launch event, Sri Koneru Konappa – MLA, Sirpur Constituency, Telangana Legislative Assembly, Sri Ashok Gupta – DEO, and Sri Bikshapathi – MEO, were the Chief Guests. The Headmaster, Sri Tuduru Nageshwar was also present. From Annapoorna Trust, Sri Anand Kumar Kadali – Trustee and Executive Secretary, Sri Srikanth Vooturi – Regional Manager of Telangana, along with Sri Battu Mallesham, Sri Laxman, and Sri Murali were present.

At ZPHS Buruguda in Kumuram Bheem Asifabad district, Sri Rahul Raj – Collector, in his address to the gathering, appreciated the Trust for the wonderful service rendered to the children. He said this service gives two benefits. Firstly, it helps in the eradication of malnutrition in poor children in these tribal areas, and secondly, the children usually travel long distances to school and while parents are unable to feed them in the morning, this service helps them attend classes with filled stomachs and no child will remain in school hungry! The collector announced Rs. 300 per month to the cooking agency of each school, much to the delight of all. On request by the collector to feed the Class 10 students in the evening as well, for additional classes, Sri Anand Kumar Kadali – Trustee and Executive Secretary of Annapoorna Trust announced that the Trust will provide additional provisions to them.

In the second launch event at ZPSS Bhatpally, Kagaznagar Mandal, Sri Konappa – MLA, thanked Sri Anand Kumar Kadali, in his speech, for approving his request immediately to provide nutrition to the much needed remotely located tribal district of Asifabad. He further announced steel glasses will be distributed free of cost to the children. Sri Anand Kumar Kadali appreciated the efforts of the MLA to serve the needy people of the district in all aspects, and for establishing a ‘food centre’ to provide lunch to the needy people of the town and to Intermediate Govt. college students who don’t get mid-day meals.

It is a known fact that a good nutrition diet is essential for a healthy mind and body. India is ranked bottom on the Global Hunger Index, 2022. It still has one of the worst rates of child malnutrition in the world despite state Governments introducing various schemes such as mid-day meal programmes. To save our children from stunting and chronic malnutrition, especially in the rural and underprivileged centres, Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust provides free morning nutritious meal to the school-going children with a vision aptly resonated by ‘Let no child go to school hungry, ever!’.

In the states of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu, “Ragi Cereals Health drink” is provided to government school-going children. It contains significant amounts of vitamin C and E. It is also high in B complex vitamins thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, folic acid, calcium, magnesium, iron, and phosphorus. Easy to prepare and tasty to drink, this health mix has received positive feedback from teachers, cooks, and children. It is considered one of the best foods for growing children.

Our volunteers are striving to achieve good health and overall well-being of the children. Their well-being will help in the development of the country as a whole.
