Morning Nutrition at school ushers in positive change – 12th March 2019

“Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna trust is of the view that no child should go to school hungry.” Annapoorna Trust collaborates with local communities and Government to execute this breakfast programme.

“We used to manage with a chips packet. Now we have stopped the practice of buying food from outside,” say a group of students.

Eleven-year-old Vaishnavi used to skip school quite often or come late to classes in remote P Naidupalem village, near Chimakurthy in Prakasam district. Now she is not only regular to school but studies well, thanks to the introduction of a pilot breakfast programme in the Mandal Parishad Upper Primary School in collaboration with Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust.

Vegetable biryani, puliyogare and upma are served alternately so that students do not feel bored eating the same menu every day. Parents are equally happy knowing their kids are fed well.
