Tracing Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust’s journey from 2015: Reported on 7th March 2018

The Government of Tamil Nadu had implemented the mid day meal scheme for all government schools in its state. However, this hunger relief scheme just didn’t seem enough. Children came hungry in the mornings, parents being wage workers had to leave early with their children unattended to and no proper breakfast. The truth was that the mid day meal was the first and last meal of the day for these underprivileged children. Increased dropouts, less concentration on their lessons and under nourished children was the end result.

Annapoorna Trust did not let this situation deteriorate further.  Chennai based volunteers lost no time in commencing its morning nutrition programme. From Para Sakthi Nagar, Pattukotai Azhagiri Nagar, Rajaji Nagar, Ambattur to Trustpuram, government school children were fed a sumptuous healthy breakfast in the morning. Since 2015, this became a mission for the Trust to seek out and feed needy govt. school going children. A dramatic turn of events is seen today. Punctuality, better focus on their lessons, and healthy, happy smiling faces greet one every morning in every one of these schools.
