Summer camp organized for Breakfast beneficiary children, Doddabele – April 2017
A week-long fun-filled summer camp was organized in Doddabele Breakfast centre. 56 children along with teachers of Doddabele Government School participated in the camp. The children enjoyed 7 days which involved fun-based learning of human values through different activities. Children were introduced to the 5 Ds of life – Dedication, Devotion, Discipline, Discrimination, and Determination and inspirational videos of great personalities like APJ Abdul Kalam, Narendra Modi, Swami Vivekananda etc., who practiced these 5Ds in their lives; in a unique gratitude session, they were encouraged to express gratitude to those who have helped them in the past; children enjoyed a variety of activities ranging from skits on honesty, trust, value-based games, exercises, art and craft, silent sitting, meditation and many more. They were also exposed to health and hygiene concepts and were given practical exposure through activities like temple cleaning. The children were finally given certificates by youth volunteers of RV college.
Nutritious breakfast for the body, human values for the mind and meditation with prayer for the soul – a comprehensive well-being routine for the children is definitely contributing positively toward rural upliftment and transformation.
