IMPACT of providing Grocery Kits to Mid Day Meal Cooks in collaboration with RIST-PFC – Phase I – Andhra Pradesh

COVID RELIEF Support – With Love & Gratitude from Mid Day Meal Cooks – Andra Pradesh

 

Annapoorna Trust in collaboration with ‘Rural India Supporting Trust’ (RIST) and  ‘Partnerships For Change’ (PFC) has been reaching out to support  GOVT MID DAY MEAL (MDM) COOKS.

 

As a part of this relief programme during Phase-I of the project, 500 MDM cooks in Andhra Pradesh received 1 Month dry ration kits. Areas covered are Giddaluru, Bestavarupet, Addanki, Yerragondapalem & Markapur mandals in Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh.

 

People from all walks of life have been hit hard by the second wave of covid. Among these, the mid-day meal cooks were hit hard too. During the pre-covid times, they were the ones who filled the bellies of children in Govt. schools. Now it’s only natural that we look after their welfare and address their needs during this pandemic.

Formal inauguration of distribution of grocery kits took place on 09th June at Markapur mandal in Prakasam district in the presence of Education Minister Sri. Adimulam Suresh of Andhra Pradesh. Mandal Education Officer Sri. Anjaneyalu was also present along with the headmasters of schools & the volunteers.

 

Honourable Minister Sri. Adimulam Suresh spoke on the occasion highlighting the contribution to the society in the field of healthcare & education by Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust. He offered his oblations at the Lotus Feet of Sadhguru Sri Madhusudan Sai for the services rendered at even this remote place that is surrounded by forest like Yerragondapalem. He also expressed his thanks to Mr. Anand Kadali, Secretary, Annapoorna Trust, teacher Sri. Subramaniam & volunteers who were involved in making this program possible. He also expressed that with Swami’s blessings, we should all be motivated to undertake many such activities, especially with regards to expansion of breakfast programme across the state of Andhra Pradesh so that lakhs of poor children are benefited & also assured that he is working hard towards clearance from the Govt. in provisioning groceries from the upcoming academic year.

In the inauguration event conducted in Addanki on 14th June, MLA Sri. Nagarjuna Reddy of Markapur spoke during the occasion. He was appreciative of the fact that groceries were provided to needy mid-day meal cooks in spite of the difficulties in terms of transportation & delivery in this time of pandemic. He was happy to note that more & more children are benefited by the free breakfast served at Govt. schools. On the lines of expansion that has happened in Karnataka with regards to free breakfast at Govt. schools, he was looking forward to support by all means possible from his end, to replicate the same model in Andhra Pradesh. This event was led by Sri. Sarveswara Rao. Also attended by MDO Sri. Rajendra, Sri. MRO Prabhakar, Sri. MEO Tulasidas, Head master & teachers of school, volunteers.

In Giddalur, Racherla & Komarolu mandals, the event was hosted in the presence of Mandal education officer K.Venkateswarlu along with headmaster of school & volunteers.

Each kit consisting of 10kg of rice, 2kg of wheat flour, 1 kg of toor dal, 1kg channa dal, 1L cooking oil, 2kg of sugar, 1kg of salt, vermicelli, chilly powder, jeera, mustard and turmeric.
