Tribal settlements along the coast get timely relief & Migrant workers in Coimbatore were well taken care off in Tamil Nadu – 11th April 2020

Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust along with Danirasa foundation distributed daily essentials to tribals in Naduvarkarai, Kothimangalam and Mamallapuram villages. These tribal settlements were always in need even before covid struck. Their meager earnings came from handmade jewelry and trinkets from non-precious-colored beads and stones sold mainly to tourists. With street vendors and makeshift pavement shops off the roads, and touristic spots closed, no sales could take place. Hence with these government precautionary measures in place, these tribals were worse off than ever before. Such was the case of migrant labour without their daily wages. In all nearly 300 needy migrants and tribals received dry food grains spices, and cooking oil.

Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust together with Sri Sathya Sai Maruthi Seva Trust, gave away large amounts of grocery essentials to the Tahsildar at Sundarapura campus in Coimbatore, so that the helpless migrant workers who had come all the way from the northern parts of India to eke out a living here do not starve. Often distribution through the Tahsildar was made at regular intervals to these migrant daily wage workers. In this way 300 and more needy labourers were greatly assisted.
