Thousands Quench their Thirsts this Holi

March 11, 2017

Pure water is the world’s first and foremost medicine. But this nature’s elixir isn’t always available to everyone on tap.

On the holy occasion of Holi, the festival of colours, team Annapoorna gifted the thousands who live in S Devaganahalli, a village located in Sidlaghatta Tehsil of Chikkaballapur district in Karnataka, with a clean drinking water plant.

A reverse osmosis plant, which provides about 20 litres of drinking water per family per day was installed in the village. The village inhabited by more 300 families had no proper drinking water facility before this. The PPM and fluoride levels in the water were high, marking it unfit for consumption. The new RO plant is expected to help the villagers meet their water needs.

The inauguration was attended by the entire village, the elders and children alike. The Grama Panchayat later thanked the team for helping the village.

With this, we have now successfully executed 8 drinking water projects, which put together help quench the thirsts of more than 15,000 villagers.

Water purification plants should increase

Sri Anand from the Annapoorna Trust in his address to the villagers after the inauguration of the RO plant said that the purification system was required due to high fluoride content in the water. He explained how due the high fluoride content in the water, the villagers were getting unhealthy. The reverse osmosis plant will help solve all this, he added.

Government employee Sri J V Timmaya spoke about how the Annapoorna Trust was providing free breakfast in Government schools surrounding the Sadahalli village. The event was attended by many government employees of the surrounding villages.
