It’s more than a year since I started volunteering here, and I can proudly say that my life’s never been better! Serving hot and healthy breakfast to these less-fortunate school children may seem like an act of giving, but in reality I have received much more from them. Their love and laughter and the satisfaction I have derived from doing the work is totally out of this world.
The small act of service makes me happy and its also best way to start the work weekday for me. Monday morning is something which i look forward to serve these little school children.
With this service programme entering my life things have changed a lot. Now I wake up in the morning knowing that I have certain tasks, assignments to complete. ‘Jobs’ for which I don’t get paid in money, I get paid in smiles on tiny faces.
Personally, it is very gratifying to watch these kids slowly transform like butterflies. I and my kids feel truly blessed to be working with this Annapoorna family. My faith and conviction grew beyond bounds with this experience and I’m inspired to start working for the Annapoorna project.
April 14th, @2 to 5 pm, we had a wonderful event where all our annapoorna volunteers participated . In this event we educated our volunteers on our various seva activities as well as there roles and responsibilities. for all our activity base is LOVE. Though Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, for an adult or a child alike, it is always taken for granted and mostly skipped by many. This is more prevalent in poor rural areas as the children go to school with an empty stomach owing to the family circumstances that cannot provide them a square meal, a day.
The nutrition is in the form of “SaiSure” nutrition supplement added to the milk, presented to the child every morning, after school prayer at the school premises.
