New drinking water facility setup for 2,000 students in Chikkaballapur
February 2, 2017
A new drinking water facility was inaugurated today at the Government Pre-University College & High School in Chikkaballapur, Karnataka. The facility will help meet the water needs of more than 2,000 students. Mr Sudhakar, MLA from a local constituency attended the function and expressed his happiness about the service rendered to the children. The school authorities too expressed their satisfaction and offered their support for any further work. The Annapoorna team later met the District CEO of Zilla Panchayat, and were offered his full support for the breakfast programme and other service initiatives.
Clean drinking water isn’t a luxury available to all. During the course of our work in the school, it came to our notice that these children were drinking contaminated water from the tank, which has 750 ppm rating and as a result kept contracting frequent fever and suffered from nausea and vomiting. Note that 750 ppm is the highest rating in the region and is unacceptable for consumption according to global standards and norms.
