New Delhi: The 21st-century malnutrition report, as published by UNICEF, points towards a triple burden for children worldwide. While some grapple with being underweight and overweight, there is a large chunk of the little ones suffering from hidden hunger, i.e. the deficiency of micronutrients. Despite producing sufficient food to meet the caloric needs of its citizens, India too has for long battled the challenges of malnutrition and hidden hunger. If we refer to the National Family Health Survey, conducted over 2019 to 2021, it suggests that more than 35% of Indian children are stunted while over 19% are impacted by wasting, hinting at an acute situation with regard to undernourishment.

5. Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust concludes Nutrition Month with 100 crore mark and serves 20 lakh additional children

16 OCT 2024

16th October 2024: Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust, the force behind the world’s largest morning nutrition program, has declared that at least 20 lakh additional children were served with 30 days under its Nutrition Month initiative. Even as the initiative, a part of Sri Madhusudan Sai’s global humanitarian mission, benefits over 1 crore school-going children across India, its scope has now been expanded to cover younger children who may not be going to school. At least 5 lakh Anganwadi children in Telangana and 15 lakh Anganwadi children in Karnataka were included during Nutrition Month, and in the process, the Trust completed 100 crore servings since its beginning.

During Nutrition Month, which complemented the Government of India’s call for Poshan Maah, the Annapoorna Trust initiated collaborations with State governments in Telangana and Karnataka. To extend the reach and impact of the program, the Trust also partnered with at least 35 leading corporate entities, including the likes of Amazon, Bangalore International Airport Ltd, Big Basket, Concord Biotech, CreditAccess India Foundation, Dell Foundation, Infosys Foundation, JCPenney, Kellogg’s India, LG Electronics, Microsoft, Volvo, Zoho and Zomato, among others. This effort brought much-needed nutritional support to underserved areas and enhanced the reach of the program, targeting children in Anganwadis and government schools.

7th October 2024: Following a historic feat of serving over 1 crore children across various parts of the country, Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust has now joined forces with the Government of Karnataka and CreditAccessGrameen Limited Foundation to further enhance the reach towards Anganwadi children.

In addition to our ongoing support for school-going children, the Trust is now taking a more targeted approach by prioritizing the needs of SAM & MAM children who require high-energy, nutrient-dense food, specifically addressing malnutrition. The critical intervention starts with children aged 3 to 6 years in the Anganwadi sections. These early interventions will help ensure proper growth and prevent conditions like anemia, wasting, and stunting. The first phase of the collaborative initiative is expected to improve the lives of close to 4,000 children in the aspirational district of Yadgir, along with Chamarajanagar, Bagalkot, Haveri, & Dharwad in Karnataka state.

Bengaluru, Nov 30, 2024: Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust has partnered with Volvo Group India to provide morning nutrition to government school children in Hoskote taluk of Bengaluru Rural district. This initiative will benefit nearly 17,000 students across 272 government schools.

Under the program, SaiSure Millet (Ragi) Multi-Nutrient Health Mix is served alongside government-sponsored milk through the Ksheera Bhagya scheme. SaiSure Millet (Ragi) Multi-Nutrient Health Mix is a specially formulated supplement designed to support the overall health and well-being of children, addressing malnutrition and fostering a healthier future generation.

New Delhi, 8th October 2024: Following a historic feat of serving over 1 crore children across various parts of the country, Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust has now joined forces with the Government of Karnataka and CreditAccess Grameen Limited Foundation to further enhance the reach towards Anganwadi children.

In addition to our ongoing support for school-going children, the Trust is now taking a more targeted approach by prioritizing the needs of SAM & MAM children who require high-energy, nutrient-dense food, specifically addressing malnutrition. The critical intervention starts with children aged 3 to 6 years in the Anganwadi sections. These early interventions will help ensure proper growth and prevent conditions like anaemia, wasting, and stunting. Bengaluru/ New Delhi: Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust, the force behind the world’s largest morning nutrition programme, has declared that at least 20 lakh additional children were served with 30 days under its Nutrition Month initiative. Even as the initiative, a part of Sri Madhusudan Sai’s global humanitarian mission, benefits over 1 crore school-going children across India, its scope has now been expanded to cover younger children that may not be going to schools. At least 5 lakh Anganwadi children in Telangana and 15 lakh Anganwadi children in Karnataka were included during the Nutrition Month, and in the process, the Trust completed 100 crore servings since its beginning.

Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust is the force behind the world’s largest morning nutrition programme. They have crossed the milestone of serving over 1 crore school going children across the country.
