IMPACT of providing Grocery Kits to Mid Day Meal Cooks in collaboration with RIST-PFC – Phase II – Karnataka

Annapoorna Trust in collaboration with ‘Rural India Supporting Trust’ (RIST) and ‘Partnerships For Change’ (PFC) has been reaching out to support the families of 15000 Government Mid Day Meal (MDM) cooks. 

 

As a part of this relief program during Phase-II of the project, 2583 cooks across Chikkaballapur, Ramanagara, Tumkur, Mysore, Bangalore Urban & Rural districts received 1 Month dry ration kits.  

 

Extended lockdown due to Covid has affected people at large. People from all walks of life have been impacted from the pandemic. The lower strata of the population are the most hit. Most of them are out of jobs and with no income, they are barely sustaining their lives. Economy may take a few months to come back to normal conditions. Annapoorna Trust in collaboration with ‘Rural India Supporting Trust’ (RIST) and ‘Partnerships For Change’ (PFC) have come forward to the assistance of vulnerable populations like those of mid-day meal cooks, helpers & set the stage for lasting recovery.

Each kit consists of 10kg of rice, 2kg of wheat flour, 1 kg of toor dal, 1kg channa dal, 1 litre cooking oil, 2kg of sugar, 1kg of salt, vermicelli, chilli powder, jeera, mustard and turmeric.

 

The Headmasters and Cluster Resource Persons from Bagepalli taluk in Karnataka voiced their gratitude and happiness for the #covid relief provided to the families of the needy cooks from various government schools.

 

In the words of Sri. Anjaneyalu – Gerigereddypalya, “Annapoorna Trust is renowned globally. Sri Sathya Sai Baba has showered Love on All with no discrimination made on the basis of caste, creed, gender etc. With a vision to bring wellbeing of children, SaiSure is being provided to school going children. For the welfare of the cooks, dry ration kits were provided totally free of cost. This is a praiseworthy effort of the Trust”.

 

Sri. Narasimappa G – Cluster resource person in Achaganapalli addressed, “We are very happy for the food kits provided to cooks in this rural area at this time of pandemic. We also wholeheartedly thank the Trust for many other social activities being done”. Sri. Krishnappa – Headmaster at GMHPS School, Cheluru was appreciative of the food kits being provided to needy MDM cooks in Govt. & Aided schools at this time of severe pandemic. Sri. Japananda Swamiji of Ramakrishna Sevashram Pavagada came forward to help us in the distribution of ration kits in Pavagada taluk held on 30 June & 01 July. Another event that was held at Govt. Kannada Model Primary School & Govt. High School Shanubhoganahalli in Ramanagara Taluk on 28 & 29 July & was held in the presence of dignitaries, Sri. Prasanna Kumar – Deputy Director of Public Instruction, Ramanagara district, Sri. Srikanta Prasad – Deputy Program Coordinator, Ramanagara district, Sri. Shivakumar – Executive officer, Taluk Panchayat, Sri. Prasanna – Assistant Director, Mid-day meal scheme, Ramanagara Taluk, Sri. Sampath Kumar – Block resource coordinator, Ramanagara taluk, Sri. Kiran B P – Regional manager, Annapoorna Trust, Karnataka & others.

 

In the words of few of the cooks –

“During this pandemic situation, Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust, has come forward helping us by providing food ration kits. I express my heartfelt thanks towards the Trust on behalf of all the cooks.”

 

“We get meagre salary & were in a difficult situation due to the pandemic. I thank the Trust on behalf of all the cooks for having come forward to assist us during this difficult time”.

 

“We get very meagre salary & are facing difficulty due to this pandemic. We thank the Trust on behalf of all the cooks for providing dry ration kits”, says Manjula of Chokkalinga school.

 

Sri. Prasanna – Assistant Director, Mid-day meal scheme, Ramanagara Taluk addressed, “There are 543 cooks in Ramanagara taluk. There was hardly any Organization that identified the need to help the cooks during these covid times. Itwas Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust, that came forward to the assistance of cooks by providing one month dry ration kits & there by helping the cooks to meet their ends. On behalf of Govt. of Karnataka, Zilla & Taluk Panchayat Ramanagara & all the cooks, we wholeheartedly thank the Trust for the support being made”.
