IMPACT of providing Grocery Kits to needy tribal families in collaboration with RIST-PFC – Coimbatore & Tiruchirappalli districts – Phase III – Tamil Nadu

Annapoorna Trust in collaboration with ‘Rural India Supporting Trust’ (RIST) and ‘Partnerships For Change’ (PFC) has been reaching out to support the families of 15000 Government Mid-Day Meal (MDM) cooks. 

 

As a part of this relief programme during Phase-III of the project, 590 needy tribal, agricultural, and daily labour families in Coimbatore & Tiruchirappalli districts of Tamil Nadu received 1 Month dry ration kits on 27-Nov & 28-Nov 2021. 

 

Extended lockdown due to Covid has affected global sentiments. At a time when the second wave of covid has affected people of all walks of life & also when there is anticipation of a third wave to be hit, people of all walks of life are struggling to lead a normal life. Economy may take 6 to 8 months to come back to normal conditions. Annapoorna Trust in collaboration with ‘Rural India Supporting Trust’ (RIST) and ‘Partnerships For Change’ (PFC) have come forward to the assistance of vulnerable populations like those of tribal, agricultural, and daily labour families & set the stage for lasting recovery.

Each grocery kit consists of 10kg of rice, 2kg wheat, 2kg rava, 1kg toor dal, 1ltr cooking oil, 2 kg chana dal, 50gms mustard, and semeeya 2 packets.

 

 

Event at Anamalai and Valparai areas of Coimbatore took place on 27-Nov in the presence of Arun Balaji – Nalvazhilati Trust, Valparai Pramasivam – President CITU, V S Paramasivam – Tamil Nadu Tribal People’s Association’s district president. From Annapoorna Trust end, Sathyanarayana – Trustee, Santhosh Allath – National Co-Ordinator, Chokkalingam – Tamil Nadu co-ordinator, Saravanan – Regional co-ordinator, Sai Bathri – Coimbatore co-ordinator took part in the efficient execution of the program. 

 

 

Likewise, RIST event at Tiruchirappalli took place on 28-Nov in the presence of K Bharathi Vivekanandar District Educational Officer, Dr. R. Madhana – Tamil Nadu Primary School Teachers Association, Kumaralingam – Headmaster of Thinnakonam School, Sathyanarayana – Trustee of Annapoorna Trust, Santhosh Allath – National Co-ordinator of Annapoorna Trust

One of the recipients by name Sanjana narrated as, “We are thankful for the distribution which has took place in Pazhaya which is in Anamalai region of Coimbatore District. We are humbled for having received the dry ration from Annapoorna Trust to 130 families. 

Another beneficiary by name Kaleeswari spoke on behalf of the tribal families and thanked the Annapoorna Trust for having given dry rations at a time when COVID pandemic is still ongoing which has caused unemployment since many months and heavy rains are preventing them from doing their regular work in tribal areas. 

 

Selvi who stays near Mariamman temple near Anna Nagar said their living area had been severely affected due to heavy rains. She was very much thankful to the almighty for having received a one-month dry ration at this crucial time.
