IMPACT of providing Grocery Kits to 300 daily wage workers in collaboration with GAIN Foundation – Munger – Bihar State

Nutrition support for 2000 vulnerable daily wage workers by Annapoorna Trust in collaboration with The Global Alliance For Improved Nutrition (GAIN) Foundation – Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Telangana & Bihar States.

 

With a vision and motto, “Let no child go to school hungry ever”, Annapoorna Breakfast Programme provides healthy, nutritious meals to more than 500,000 children in 6000+ schools across 18 states and 3 union territories in India.

 

The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is a Swiss-based foundation launched at the United Nations in 2002 to face malnutrition. They work with governments and collaborate with like-minded institutions to provide food and nutrition to the needy and especially the vulnerable.

 

On the 31 October 2021, GAIN foundation and Annapoorna Trust came forward to provide dry rations to 300 needy families, Teghra, Rataitha, Bokhara, Bhusi-chak villages under Haveli Kharagpur block of Munger district of Bihar. It is to be noted that, out of total of 300 beneficiaries, 220 were women folk. 

 

 

Sri. Yogendra Mahto – BEO of Heveli Kharagpur presided over the function. He appreciated GAIN foundation and Annapoorna Trust for identifying and recognizing this remote tribal village for distribution of ration kits. He was looking forward for future collaboration in the days to come.

 

All the women folk expressed their joy of having received these before the Chhath puja – festival of faith which commences from November 8 till 11. This is one of the most important festivals in Bihar & Jharkhand. 

 

There was an atmosphere of delight and happiness among all beneficiaries and they were immensely thankful and offered gratitude to almighty God, GAIN foundation & Annapoorna Trust for having helped them in this remote place. The Annapoorna volunteers, as always actively participated in efficient execution of the program.

 

Each kit consists of 5kg Rice, 1ltr mustard oil, 5kg Ashirwad Atta(fortified), 1ltr Tata salt(fortified), 2 kg Toor dal, 1kg Urad dal, and 1kg Chana dal.
